Established in 1913, Thermo Technologies (Annecy – Haute-Savoie) is one of the world’s leaders in high-tech wires (specifically for EDM applications) and electrolytic precious-metal coatings (silver and gold plating, tinning, nickel plating, rhodium plating, etc.). More recently, its activities have expanded to include diamond wires (for cutting sapphire, silicon, etc.) and vacuum thermal treatments. The Group mainly serves high-tech industries (aeronautics, automotive, electrical connectors, medical, telecommunications, etc.) from five manufacturing facilities.

Developing wire technology
Drawing on its expertise in coatings and specialist wires, Thermo Technologies has developed a new generation of wires coated in diamond particles to cut hard materials such as silicon for the photovoltaic industry, silicon carbide for electronics, and sapphire for LEDs. These niche technology products have applications in many sectors: aeronautics, aerospace, telecommunications, automotive, military, precision mechanics, medical, photovoltaic and electronics. The recent acquisition of assets in Diamond Materials Tech Inc. (DMT) in the United States has consolidated the Group’s expertise and created a combined range of saw products.
Consolidating a range of high-tech surface treatments
The development strategy implemented by Thermo Technologies was demonstrated in 2017 by the acquisition of T.S.D.M., the French specialist in vacuum thermal treatments for industrial tools. This brings a new area of expertise to the Group, consolidating its position as a specialist in value-added surface treatments.
